Experienced Residential Renovation Carpenter

HandKind Construction Co. is looking for an experienced residential renovation carpenter to join our growing team.

We are looking for someone with 5+ years of residential renovation experience who is capable of taking ownership of work on site, leading a small crew, coordinating with trades, and working closely with our Project Manager to keep projects organized and moving forward.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a well-rounded carpenter who understands renovations and can confidently work through the unexpected conditions that come with existing homes.

Responsibilities

- Residential framing and structural carpentry
- Additions and renovation projects
- Kitchen and bathroom renovations
- Installation of doors and windows
- Interior and exterior trim and finish carpentry
- Repairs and renovation-related carpentry
- Read and work from construction drawings and specifications
- Identify problems and develop practical solutions on site
- Lead and manage a small crew of approximately 2–3 workers
- Coordinate daily work and priorities on site
- Work with subcontractors and trades to keep projects moving
- Communicate regularly with the Project Manager regarding progress, scheduling, materials, deficiencies, and site issues
- Complete clear daily project logs
- Prepare weekly material lists and identify upcoming material requirements
- Maintain an organized, professional, and clean jobsite
- Interact professionally with homeowners and customers
- Ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard

What We're Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of residential renovation carpentry experience
- Strong knowledge of both rough and finish carpentry
- Experience working in occupied homes and existing residential buildings
- Ability to manage and direct a small team
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to read construction drawings
- Organized and able to plan work ahead




- Self-starting and able to work independently without constant supervision
- Good communication skills
- Comfortable working directly with subcontractors, trades, customers, and project management
- Reliable and accountable
- Valid driver's licence
- Own basic hand tools

Experience as a Lead Carpenter, Site Supervisor, Renovation Carpenter, or Working Foreman would be an asset.

Compensation

$38.00–$45.00 per hour, depending on experience and ability.

We are willing to pay more for the right person once they have demonstrated their ability during an initial trial period.

There is strong opportunity for increased responsibility and compensation for someone who can consistently manage projects, crews, schedules, materials, and quality.

Company vehicle or access to a company vehicle may be available depending on experience, responsibilities, and position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38.00–$45.00 per hour, with additional earning potential for the right candidate.
