BCIT’s Physics Department is seeking one (1) regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Faculty and one (1) regular, part-time (0.50 FTE) Faculty.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Physics Department teaches around 1000 students in 17 different technologies, many of which are related to engineering or healthcare. Candidates with significant experience teaching applied physics at the post-secondary level are encouraged to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Physics or a related field.
- Minimum of one year experience teaching applied physics at the post-secondary level with full responsibility over course delivery.
- Demonstrated excellence in both online and in-person teaching.
- Experience with Online Learning Management Systems such as Learning Hub, Moodle or Blackboard.
- Experience in curriculum design for both online and in-person courses.
- Demonstrated understanding of various learning styles, teaching strategies, and research informed education practices.
- Research or industry experience in an applied physics setting would be considered an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
- Demonstrated success working in a team environment.
Applicants are requested to specifically address the above in a clear format in their submission.
Successful applicants will be required to complete POLY 1005: Instructional Skills Workshop either prior to the beginning of classes or during the first term teaching at BCIT.
SALARY:
Salary Range: $69,006 - $120,460 per annum.
Additional Salary Information: Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
