What can you expect?
The Media & FAM Coordinator is a highly visible, guest-facing role responsible for showcasing the resort to guests, media, influencers, and community partners. This position combines event and tour coordination with public relations, ensuring that all communications and experiences reflect the resort’s brand standards. The role includes planning and hosting familiarization (FAM) tours, coordinating public events, managing media outreach, and supporting content creation.
This position reports to the Marketing and Communications Supervisors and works closely with other senior personnel in Brand & Communications and Events.

- Media & Public Relations outreach.
- Planing, coordinating, and hosting familiarization (FAM) tours and public events both on- and off-site.
- Coordinating and hosting visiting media, influencers, athletes, and film crews to ensure an exceptional on-site experience.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, and community partners to generate positive coverage.
- Assisting with story pitches highlighting resort news, events, and seasonal offerings.
- Tracking media coverage and developing regular Media reports.
- Conducting site inspections, assembling and operating mobile stage trailers, and ensuring events run smoothly and safely.
- Assisting with booking talent, influencers, and athletes for events and content projects.
- Delivering an outstanding guest experience at all tours and events while prioritizing safety and professionalism.
- Skiing or snowboarding as required for hosting or guiding tours, maintaining professional conduct and safe practices.
- Maintaining accurate records of costs associated with media, FAM tours, and events, including invoicing.
- Conducting pre-visit and follow-up communications with media, partners, and influencers to ensure effective brand exposure.
- Providing timely incident reporting and ensure compliance with company health, safety, and waiver/release policies.
- Staying informed of resort and industry news to ensure messaging is current and relevant.
- Assisting with Event hosting and day of logistics.
- Coordinating event set-up and tear-down, ensuring all equipment, signage, and branding are properly in place.
- Ensuring event spaces are clean, safe, and guest-ready before, during, and after each event.
- Following Safe Work Procedures for all event operations.
- Ensuring the Marketing Storm Board and Height of Snow rulers are regularly cleared and maintained.
- Submitting timely and accurate incident reports as required.
- Ensuring compliance with company health, safety, and waiver/release policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
And you are:
- Must be an expert-level skier or snowboarder; competency test required for work-related skiing/riding.
- Outgoing, positive, social, and professional demeanor.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain media, influencer, and community relationships.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; calm under pressure with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Word) and ability to adapt quickly to new systems.
- Experience in media relations, public relations, or communications is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings,
weekends, and holidays.
- Comfortable working outdoors in a remote alpine environment in all weather conditions.
- Punctual, dependable, and able to represent the resort with professionalism at all times.
Additional Considerations:
- Role requires work in both indoor and outdoor environments, often in variable mountain weather conditions.
- Position is highly visible; professionalism is expected at all times when representing the brand.
- May require overnight stays on-mountain when hosting tours, as well as occasional evening/night shifts.
- Operation of snowmobiles, company fleet vehicles, and event equipment may be required.
- Role may involve handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Skiing or snowboarding equipment must meet resort safety requirements and will be tested throughout the season.
- Required uniform pieces (liner, jacket, pants, toque) will be provided; employee must provide appropriate footwear, gloves, and layers.
- Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit positive judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
This role is subject to all terms and conditions of the Sunshine Village Employee Handbook, Policy Manual, and the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
