General Manager
Lakefront Golf & Cottage Resort — East-Central Ontario
$110,000 CAD base + bonus potential + benefits| Salaried year-round
Your P&L; stops at the pro shop
You run a golf operation, and you run it well. You know your rounds, your cart revenue, your labour line, your F&B; capture. You have also worked out that a golf-only business has a ceiling — on your scope, and on what the market will pay you.
This is a bigger business that happens to have a golf course in the middle of it.
The opportunity
Our client operates a lakefront resort community in Ontario's cottage country: eighteen holes, a waterfront, a seasonal rental program, and an on-site real estate sales operation, all under one General Manager. Golf is one of several revenue lines, not the whole business. Your office looks at water, your commute is measured in minutes, and the property is the centre of a real community, not one building among thousands.
What you'll oversee
- The full resort P&L; — revenue, expenses, and the annual budget you build
- On-site real estate sales with a dedicated sales team, plus fee, insurance, and agreement collections
- The golf operation through your Head Professional and Superintendent — course conditions, tee sheet, retail, tournaments
- Property, grounds, and capital upkeep through your Property Manager and crew
- The rental program: occupancy, rate, and guest experience
- On-site accounting, purchasing, month-end reporting, and health and safety, sales
- Hiring, training,
and standards — you rebuild your team every spring
Who you are
- 8–15+ years in golf, resort, club, or multi-department hospitality operations, with genuine P&L; ownership
- You have carried a sales number, or led people who did.
Revenue generation is the job
- Golf operations literacy — you need not be a PGA professional, but you must be credible with one
- Property management, rentals, or seasonal-community experience is an asset, not a requirement
- Based in east-central Ontario, Peterborough or nearby, or ready to relocate there
The trade-off, plainly The season owns you. From spring open to fall close you are on property, you work weekends, and you do not take vacation — nobody here does.
Then the property winterizes. From November through March the work goes hybrid — you budget, plan and hire largely from home, on a schedule that is yours again. Some operators call that rhythm the best deal in hospitality.
Others miss the steady hum of a 365-day hotel. Be candid with yourself about which you are, and only apply if you truly enjoy seasonal work.
Compensation
$110,000 CAD base salary plus bonus potential and a full perks package. This is a salaried, year-round position — no seasonal layoff.
