Description Geo-Technician (1 Year Term) – 4 Positions

What you’ll accomplish:

- Work on Orano’s exploration projects, in accordance with the direction of the Project Geologists and/or the Senior Geo-Technician
- Provide field-based logistical and technical support for exploration/development programs. These duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with drill core related activities (measuring, labelling, radiometry, moving full core boxes)
- Down hole probing data acquisition, QAQC, processing & interpretation
- Infrared Spectrometry measurements on drill core (TerraSpec)
- Physical property measurements on drill core (density, resistivity, magnetic susceptibility)
- QA/QC of infrared spectrometry and physical property results
- Computer data entry into the project database
- Provide written / oral presentation of results, as required

- Provide logistical and technical support for Saskatoon office/exploration warehouse projects as directed. These duties include, but are not limited to:

- Maintain the efficiencies of the Exploration warehouse in the shipment, receiving, maintenance, and storage of exploration equipment/supplies
- Maintain inventory lists, maintenance checklists, and instrumentation logbooks
- Assist with annual calibration checks of radiometric probes and radiometric equipment

- Must be fully aware of role and responsibilities as defined in the Integrated Management System (Corporate and Exploration) and support files
- Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture
- Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures
- Promote and adhere to Orano’s Values: Safety and Security, Team Spirit and Cohesion, Continuous Improvement, Customer Satisfaction, Ethics, Transparency and Dialogue, Respect and People Development

Qualifications and skills we’re seeking:

- Geophysical/Geological technologist or technician diploma
- Previous experience working at exploration sites and/or logistically difficult areas is an asset
- Mechanical/electronic knowledge and skills considered an asset
- Excellent computer skills; familiarity with Geosoft, WellCAD, AcQuire, and Microsoft Excel would be considered an asset
- Ability to physically work in difficult and isolated conditions
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Experience operating snowmobiles/ATVs is considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills
- Good organizational skills, task-oriented and rigorous approach required
- Excellent social skills and ability to work in a team environment

Work Location & Schedule:

- Partially a field-based position in Northern Saskatchewan; isolated exploration camps or mine sites on a two to three week in and one week out field rotation during field programs
- Partially based at Saskatoon Corporate Office or Exploration warehouse
- Normally a 10-hour workday in the field and 8-hour workday in Saskatoon office, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required
- This position requires moderate physical ability with ability to work in difficult and isolated conditions
