Role DescriptionThe Governance, Risk and Compliance Analyst Intern is a part-time, remote position requiring approximately 20 hours per week for a fixed term of three to six months. The successful candidate will support risk, compliance and audit activities across Venzip’s client engagements and internal operations.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting with control assessments, reviewing documentation against standards and requirements such as SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, HIPAA and GDPR, and organizing evidence for audits.
The intern will also help compile and analyze information relating to risk assessments, third-party governance and AI systems while maintaining accurate records, trackers and dashboards within the Venzip platform.
Working closely with senior consultants and cross-functional teams, the intern will track remediation activities, support client audit readiness and contribute to the continuous improvement of governance processes. This position offers practical experience in compliance frameworks, control monitoring, AI governance and technology risk management.
Hours and Compensation
- Part-time, fixed-term internship lasting three to six months
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- Remote position for candidates based in British Columbia
- Compensation: CAD $19–$21 per hour
- Vacation pay: 4% of gross wages
- Schedule to be agreed upon with the successful candidate
What You Bring
- A strong interest in governance, risk, compliance, audit, cybersecurity, privacy or business operations.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to track tasks, review information, identify gaps and evaluate risks.
- Excellent attention to detail when reviewing documents, updating records, validating evidence and monitoring remediation activities.
- Transparent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise summaries, reports and follow-up messages.
- Comfort using documents, spreadsheets, collaboration platforms and task-tracking systems.
- A practical, curious and dependable approach, with a willingness to ask questions and learn quickly.
- The ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a remote environment.
- Current enrollment in or completion of a program in business, finance, accounting, information systems, cybersecurity or a related field.
- Authorization to work in Canada.
Nice to Have
- Coursework, internship, volunteer or project experience in GRC, audit, compliance, cybersecurity, privacy, business analysis or process improvement.
- Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF, NIST AI RMF, HIPAA or GDPR.
- Experience using Jira, Confluence, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, data-analysis tools or GRC platforms.
- An interest in SaaS, third-party risk, AI governance and modern compliance practices.
- Experience organizing evidence, maintaining dashboards, cleaning data or improving repeatable processes.
- Interest in using automation and AI tools to improve risk and compliance activities.
