Job Type: Full-time Location: Niagara Falls, ON (On-site) Compensation Range: $31.00 to $38.11 per hour As a self‑financed agency of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, we are the caretakers of 56 kilometers of breathtaking landscapes from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario and the hosts of millions of visitors from around the world. From attractions and retail to heritage, culinary, and golf operations, our career paths are as diverse as the lands we protect. Under the general supervision of the Manager, Brand and Design, and within established policies, procedures and guidelines: design marketing and sales support materials; produce creative and innovative design solutions using both written and visual elements; follow established Niagara Parks branding and content protocols to develop products such as advertising for print publications, point of sale materials, flyers, menus, posters, digital and printed newsletters and signage; The Graphic Designer will: Responsible for content and design through to final production of materials to support sales and marketing initiatives and strategies, including print, web and digital media.
Develops concepts, graphics and layouts for product illustrations, logos, and website elements following NPC branding standards. Designs promotional/creative materials for digital advertising campaigns, such as web banners and for print campaigns, such as visual advertisements, posters, flyers, coupons, rack cards, etc. Ensures all work is compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, policies/procedures and the Accessibility for Disabled Ontarians Act (AODA) with specific knowledge for creating accessible PDF documents.
Works with all departments to ensure materials comply with AODA standards, including print materials and pdfs such as WEGO schedules and digital marketing materials. Issues regular weekly and/or monthly reports as required including status of all projects. Proofreads to produce accurate and high-quality work.
Liaises with internal stakeholders and coordinates assets (content, photos, videos, digital templates). Keeps abreast of new and emerging design technologies to ensure state of the art processes are used. Liaises with external printers to ensure deadlines are met and materials printed to the highest quality.
Completion of a Diploma/degree in graphic or web design, digital media, advertising, marketing communications or equivalent. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing, web design principles and social media knowledge. Familiarity and experience with HTML, Content Management Systems or Blogging Platforms (WordPress/Tumblr) preferred.
Ability to learn new software and technology platforms. Bilingualism an asset.
Experience in print and web graphic design or multimedia production with proven competence in design and image processing software, desktop publishing, graphic design and layout skills. excellent proofreading and editing skills essential. Strong organizational ability to coordinate the activities of several projects simultaneously. Strong customer service skills including, communication / interpersonal skills both oral and written.
