The Health Care

Aide (HCA) is a regulated health professional who provides direct personal care and health support services to clients across the lifespan, in accordance with their scope of practice, regulatory standards, and government legislation. Functional supervision is provided by a member of the nursing team and may occur directly or indirectly in accordance with client needs, care context, and regulatory standards. Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team the HCA provides care in alignment with documented care plans and assigned or delegated tasks, delivering assistance with activities of daily living, monitoring and reporting changes in health status, and supporting the physical, emotional, psychosocial and behavioural well being of clients.





They play a vital role in promoting comfort, dignity, and continuity of care, and demonstrate flexibility in responding to the needs of clients and the care team. HCAs actively engage in continuous improvement through feedback, self-reflection, and learning opportunities. This includes intentionally living Covenant¿s values in day-to-day practice and reflecting them in decision-making, client interactions, teamwork, and the overall approach to care.

Classification: Health Care Aide Unit and Program: Emergency MCH Misericordia Community Hosp Multi-Site: Not Applicable Temporary Employee Class: Temp F/T Perks Temporary End Date: 26-OCT-2027 Hours per Shift: 11.08 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 42 Shift Pattern: Days, Nights, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Active status on the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) or students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed: 1) a continuing care or medicine unit placement, and 2) either Year 1 of a practical nursing program; or Year 2 of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program, and 3) knowledge and experience with medication assistance; Physically able to assist with all aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending and lifting. Must be able to understand written and verbal directions in English. Must have Heart and Stroke Foundation B.Level C)-health Care Provider required.

Annual influenza vaccination required.
