Position: Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice Level 4

Location: Corner Brook, NL

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Pay: $26.00 hourly

As a Mechanic Apprentice – Level 4, you will work alongside experienced, licensed technicians gaining hands‑on experience with heavy duty construction equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically inclined individuals who are eager to learn, develop their skills, and build a long-term career in the heavy equipment industry.

What You'll Be Doing

- Work with licensed technicians assisting in daily repairs of equipment;
- Identify areas of concern within heavy duty equipment hydraulic systems by using critical thinking skills and strategies and by applying fundamental knowledge of heavy duty equipment operation, components and their interrelationships;
- Identify, diagnose, assemble, recondition and test heavy duty equipment engine short blocks;
- Identify, inspect, diagnose, and test heavy duty equipment electrical and electronic components and systems in compliance with manufacturers’ recommendations;
- Identify, inspect and test basic power train components and systems, including torque converters, fluid couplings and hydraulic retarders, and hydrostatic drive systems;
- Identify, inspect, test and maintain suspension, steering, and brake components and systems, including steering systems, tires, wheels, hubs and track type undercarriages;
- Utilize information technology and computer skills to access data concerning repair procedures and manufacturers’ updates;
- Prepare logs, records, and documentation to appropriate standards;
- Maintain tools and equipment;
- Perform general maintenance and inspections;
- Prepare job action plans for repairs;
- Diagnose engines and support systems;
- Diagnose hydrostatic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems;
- Apply business practices and communication skills to improve customer service;




- Develop and use personal and qualified strategies and plans to improve professional growth, job performance, and work relationships;
- Complete all assigned work in compliance with occupational, health, safety, and environmental law; established policies and procedures; codes and regulations; and in accordance with ethical principles;
- Perform all work in a safe and timely manner;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

- Mechanically Inclined: A mechanically inclined individual with a strong interest in heavy equipment including Genie, Skyjack and CAT. A basic understanding of preventative maintenance practices is an asset.
- Adaptable: Ability to adapt to changing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Apprentice Mindset: Currently enrolled in, or having completed, a post-secondary Heavy Equipment Mechanic program with a genuine interest in learning and developing new skills.
- Endurance:



Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions with the ability to regularly perform heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset.
- Multitasker: Proven ability to manager multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Safety Focused: A strong commitment to safe work practices, environmental responsibility, and Battlefield’s health and safety policies.
- A technical understanding of CAT equipment would be considered an asset.
- A high school diploma.
