Position Summary:

The HR assistant provides general administrative and operational support to the Human Resource team. This position assists with a variety of HR activities. The role requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support changing priorities and organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Workplace Health and Safety

- Supports our Workplace Health and Safety program and initiatives
- Conducts regular workplace walkthroughs and inspections to identify hazards, maintenance concerns and opportunities for improvement
- Ensures all required health and safety posters, notices, forms and other materials are current and accessible
- Helps coordinate health and safety meetings, trainings and other related activities
- Assists with emergency preparedness activities

Employee Housing

- Coordinates regular inspections and walkthroughs of employer owned housing
- Coordinates move out inspections




- Assists in the purchasing of rental items such as bedding and kitchen utensils
- Maintains accurate records related to employee housing, inspections, inventory and housing assignments

Events

- Assists with planning and coordinating employee events
- Prepare meeting and event materials, signage, communications and schedules

Onboarding Assistance

- Coordinates onboarding activities for visitors and employees travelling to Canada, including schedules, logistics and itineraries
- Coordinates with internal departments to ensure new employees have the necessary equipment and supplies prior to their start date

Qualifications and Skills:

- Post secondary education in Human Resources, or Business preferred
- Experience in the swine industry would be considered an asset
- Proficient in all Microsoft Platforms
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to take on a variety of tasks and duties as assigned
- A valid Manitoba Drivers License is required

Salary: Starting at $18 an hour, dependent on education and experience
