The Industrial Engineering
Coordinator is responsible for learning, understanding and owning the end-to-end process of furniture manufacturing at scale. This includes translating new requirements into clear instructions and guidance for production, scheduling, inventory and operations improvement departments. This is a highly cross functional position and will require extensive collaboration as well as a deep understanding of our specific manufacturing processes and supporting technology.
To understand in detail production, ERP and engineering requirements related to Tayco's furniture manufacturing Coordinate changes to production processes, ERP setup and products based on manufacturing and business requirements and objectives Incorporate technical advances in manufacturing processes and materials while understanding current capabilities in supplier base Maintain accurate engineering and ERP data, including item masters, bills of materials, routings, work instructions and related production documentation, to support reliable planning, manufacturing and product launch activities. Review assembly layouts and suggest improvements Coordinate engineering change implementation by reviewing change requirements, communicating impacts to affected departments, supporting approval workflows and ensuring changes are reflected accurately in drawings,
ERP data and production instructions To work together with cross-disciplinary project teams to collectively solve product issues including function, manufacturability, technical application /compatibility, testing and installation, etc. Create and maintain clear standard work, process documentation and training materials to support consistent execution by production, scheduling, inventory and other crossfunctional teams.
Complete root cause analysis to identify problems and suggest immediate and long term changes Assist with cost analysis by gathering quotes, reviewing material usage, and supporting value engineering efforts Support post-launch validation of new products, process changes and ERP updates by confirming expected performance, resolving launch issues and capturing lessons learned for future development activities. To liaise with 3rd party suppliers to source components or fabrication solutions At development hold design reviews, topics include drawings, manufacturing process, capability, efficiency and the plan for quality. Provide documentation, data and other information required for effective launch of products into full production.
To provide engineering knowledge and expertise to other departments in the organization. Support claims and warranty issues with short and long term solutions To continue to acquire knowledge of industry trends and standards, manufacturing and materials, technology, competitive product and engineering practices,
environmental issues and sustainable design principles. Zero defects at launch through quality planning Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree, diploma or equivalent experience 3-5 years engineering experience in a product design and manufacturing environment Knowledge and experience designing for a variety of manufacturing processes and materials (i.e. sheet metal, plastic, glass, wood) Good project and time management skills, experience in handling multiple projects Familiarity with ANSI/BIFMA standards 3D Modelling and design experience using Solidworks is preferred Experience with Solidworks PDM is preferred Experience with ERP systems for engineering and manufacturing processes Ability to work both in diverse multidisciplinary team environment as well as individually with minimum supervision Reasonable accommodations may be made enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
