NVIT anticipates the need for one full-time Term Instructor in the Health Programs and invites applications from qualified candidates, this will be a one-year term with the possibility of extension. This faculty position will be required to teach in the health programs (HTCA/HCAP/APN), provide instructional support, and program research and quality control. This position will commence as soon as the suitable candidate is available.

Job Summary The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering courses in the health programs (HTCA/HCAP/APN). Instruction duties will include preparing and delivering courses in a classroom, laboratory and/or clinical setting. As well, this position will be responsible for research and progress reports needed for any regulating or ministerial bodies.

Qualifications

- Possess a Master’s in Nursing Science, or Registered Nurse (RN) with relevant teaching and research experience may be considered;
- Current BCCNM registration;
- Experience teaching Indigenous adult learners;




- Experience with regulating bodies and Accreditation Boards
- Experience working with HSPNET,
- Current experience in continuing care settings (work experience in acute and community settings is an asset);
- And student placement with various health authorities,
- BC Provincial Instructor’s Diploma or equivalent, or willingness to complete the PID or NAID program (some Prior Learning Assessment Recognition may be available);
- Courses in geriatric nursing and gerontology would be an asset for all applicants;
- Demonstrated teaching and human relations skills. Faculty members are expected to contribute positively to the life of the school and community;
- Understanding of Canada’s colonial history and the devastating impacts on Indigenous peoples and Indigenous ways of being and knowing;
- Knowledge and appreciation for Indigenous languages and cultures and Indigenous lived experiences;
- Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships to achieve outcomes in the best interest of students and NVIT;
- Practice from a holistic, culturally safe and trauma-informed lens;
- Completion of the Health Care Assistant Practice in BC course available on the LearningHub as part of their orientation/on-boarding;
- Completion of the Indigenous Cultural Competency course would be an asset;
- Preference is provided to Indigenous applicants.
