Position: Lead Hand / Journeyman Glazier The Employee’s primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions. These duties may be modified or expanded by the Employer as required to meet operational needs.

1. Glass and Glazing Installation

· Measure, cut, prepare, and install glass, curtain wall systems, aluminum framing, doors, windows, skylights, mirrors and related components.

· Set, fit, and secure glass using appropriate tools, sealants, gaskets, clips, and anchors to ensure watertight and structurally sound installations.

· Ensure all installations meet project drawings, specifications, and applicable building codes.

2. Drawing Interpretation and Layout

· Review and interpret architectural and shop drawings to determine material requirements, dimensions, and installation methods.

· Lay out and mark installation locations according to project plans.

· Verify field dimensions, identify discrepancies, and communicate changes or material requirements to the Project Manager or Site Foreman.

3. Site Supervision and Coordination

· Lead daily on-site activities and act as the primary point of contact for glaziers, apprentices, and labourers.

· Coordinate tasks, material deliveries, and work sequencing to maintain schedule and efficiency.

· Ensure installation quality, safety compliance, and adherence to project specifications.

· Conduct daily safety meetings or toolbox talks as required.

· Communicate progress updates, issues, and site needs to the Project Manager or Foreman.

· Assist in planning manpower requirements and monitoring crew productivity.

· Liaise with general contractors and other trades to resolve on-site conflicts and maintain workflow.

4. Team Leadership and Training





· Provide direction, mentorship, and training to apprentices and labourers.

· Ensure all team members understand and follow safe work procedures and company standards.

· Evaluate and provide feedback on team performance and workmanship.

· Foster a positive, professional, and cooperative work environment on site.

5. Safety and Compliance

· Enforce all company, site-specific, and occupational health and safety regulations.

· Conduct regular inspections of work areas, tools, and equipment to ensure safety compliance.

· Ensure the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Report and document unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately.

6. Tool, Equipment, and Material Management

· Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and storage of tools, lifts, and equipment on site.

· Monitor material inventory and ensure accurate handling and protection of glass and framing components.

· Coordinate the return, replacement, or repair of damaged or defective equipment and materials.

7. Quality Control and Finishing

· Inspect all completed work for accuracy, alignment, sealing, and compliance with quality standards.

· Ensure that final finishes, trims, and sealants are applied to meet both aesthetic and performance requirements.

· Address deficiencies promptly and ensure client satisfaction with completed work.

Pay: $36.00-$42.00 per hour
