We believe children learn best when they are engaged, active, curious, and having fun. Our classes are designed to build confidence, creativity, communication skills, and a love of learning in a warm and supportive environment.

We are currently expanding our Dunbar location and are looking for enthusiastic, experienced instructors who love working with children and have a background in fitness, movement, performing arts, sports, or children's enrichment programming.

What We're Looking For

We are hiring for multiple instructor roles, so you do not need to have experience teaching every area below.

We are particularly interested in instructors with experience leading children in:

- Yoga or mindfulness
- Dance or creative movement
- Martial arts
- Musical theatre or drama
- Fitness or children's exercise programs
- Sports or recreational activities
- Gymnastics or movement-based programming
- Other structured physical or performing arts activities

If you have a specialty that isn't listed above but you have experience leading engaging activities for children, we'd still love to hear from you.

The Role

Instructors will lead engaging activities for children approximately ages 3–13 during our weekday after-school programming.

- Keeping children engaged and participating safely
- Adapting activities for different ages and ability levels
- Managing group dynamics and maintaining appropriate classroom expectations
- Preparing easy activities or lesson plans as needed
- Communicating professionally with LWL staff and families
- Helping create an environment where children feel confident trying new things

Curriculum guidance, classroom resources, and support from the LWL team will be provided.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have:

- Experience working with children, ideally ages 3–13
- Experience leading groups of children in fitness, movement, sports, dance, martial arts, yoga, musical theatre, drama, or another children's activity
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to confidently lead a group of children
- A warm, energetic, patient, and encouraging personality
- The ability to keep children engaged while maintaining appropriate structure and boundaries
- Reliability and professionalism
- The ability to work independently while being part of a collaborative team

Relevant certifications, education, or professional experience in areas such as fitness, kinesiology, education, early childhood education, dance, theatre, martial arts, or recreation are an asset.

Schedule

We are specifically looking for instructors who can consistently work weekday afternoons from approximately 2:45 PM–5:15 PM.

There may be opportunities for additional hours depending on your specialty, availability, and LWL programming.

Why Work With LWL?
