Purpose of Position The Mount Continuing Care Community is currently seeking Permanent Multi-Service Worker for our long-term care facility. Reporting to the multi-service supervisor, the multi-service worker is responsible for cleaning the building, doing laundry, and assisting with the delivery of meals and kitchen clean up. The multi-service worker will also act in compliance with Provincial Community Care and Nursing Care Regulations.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Multi-Service Worker
- Maintain cleanliness of the entire building.
- Change bedding, dust, and clean the washrooms of each resident, as well as public washrooms.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors and carpets throughout the facility.
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect all common areas including, lobbies, elevators, sitting rooms, and other facilities.
- Clean-up of bodily fluids and excrement (urine, feces, blood, vomit) when required.
- Empty all waste bins and dispose of contents appropriately.
- Ensure toiletries and supplies are fully stocked for each resident and throughout the building.
- Transport soiled linen.
- Utilize and understand the use of multiple cleaning products.
- Assist with meals.
- Clean tables, operate dishwasher, put away clean dishes, stock kitchens.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
- Other duties as required.
Laundry Coordinator
- Operation of industrial laundry machines and dryers.
- Sorting, washing, drying, folding and ironing (when needed) and distribute to resident rooms.
- Coordinate with Community Care and Nursing Care staff for labelling of clothes for all recent residents.
- Managing unlabeled clothes and coordinating with Community Care and Nursing Care staff to make sure clothes are being labelled properly and returned to the right resident.
- Adhering to infection control procedures and guidelines
- Maintaining inventory of laundry supplies and reporting to MS Supervisor in a timely manner for ordering.
- Organizing and maintaining the neatness of residents’ closets and drawers.
- Keeping laundry area clean and organized.
- Handling and responding to complaints, queries and concerns related to laundry and resident’s clothing and resolving issues promptly.
- Maintain linen inventory and distribute to specific neighborhoods as needed.
- Reporting laundry operations and issues to MS Supervisor.
- Handling and responding to complaints, queries and concerns related to laundry and resident’s clothing and resolving issues promptly. This involves speaking with families when necessary.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues.
- Sorting and separating linens according to their type, and ensuring the items are properly tagged and recorded.
Requirements
- Grade 12 equivalency or considerable experience with cleaning and laundry.
- WHMIS training.
- Ability to work as a team member and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Valid criminal record check.
- Experience is an asset.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork qualities.
- Current CPR, criminal record check, immunizations, GPA, and TLR
Working Environment
- Rotating shifts between 3 and 12 hours.
- Rotating shifts including days, weekends, and holidays.
- Frequent handling of chemical-based cleaning products.
- Frequent usage of powered and non-powered tools and equipment.
- Frequent interaction with residents, family members, and the public.
Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour Expected hours: 37.5 per week
