Overview

We are seeking a Lead Developer with deep AWS, Node.js and TypeScript expertise to lead the design and delivery of highly scalable API services supporting enterprise lending and data platforms within a large financial institution.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical lead with strong cloud-native engineering fundamentals who is also at the forefront of AI-enabled software development. This includes demonstrated experience establishing AI development harnesses, leveraging coding agents and agentic workflows, and implementing rigorous validation frameworks to ensure AI-generated code is reliable, secure and production-ready.

Responsibilities

- Lead the architecture, design and hands-on development of scalable, highly available API services using Node.js, TypeScript and AWS.
- Design and implement cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB and related AWS services.
- Provide technical leadership across solution design, development, testing, deployment and production support.
- Evaluate architectural and engineering trade-offs and make sound technical decisions balancing scalability, maintainability, delivery timelines and complexity.
- Build solutions with a high degree of automation that are supportable, reusable and aligned with enterprise engineering standards.
- Establish and evolve AI-assisted software engineering workflows, including development harnesses, coding agents and automated feedback loops.




- Define approaches for validating AI-generated code before it is accepted into the codebase, including deterministic validation through automated testing, type checking, static analysis, linting, security scanning and other programmatic quality gates.
- Develop agentic workflows that can iteratively generate, test, evaluate and refine software based on objective validation results.
- Determine appropriate guardrails, context, tooling and engineering standards for the effective use of AI throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Proactively diagnose and resolve complex production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with business, architecture and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Mentor developers, establish engineering best practices and raise the technical capability of the broader team.

Must Haves:
- Advanced AWS development experience, including:
- AWS Lambda
- API Gateway
- DynamoDB
- AWS SDK
- AWS CDK
- Experience designing and implementing high-volume, highly available and highly automated applications.
- Robust API and distributed systems design fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a hands-on technical lead, including architecture/design decisions, development, troubleshooting and mentoring.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, automated testing and production-grade development practices.




- Demonstrated advanced use of AI-assisted software development, beyond basic code completion or prompt usage.
- Experience establishing or configuring AI development harnesses, including how models or agents receive context, instructions, tools, constraints and feedback.
- Hands-on experience using or developing coding agents and agentic engineering workflows for activities such as implementation, testing, debugging, refactoring or code review.
- Experience implementing structured methods to validate AI-generated code and outputs before they are accepted or deployed.
- Strong understanding of deterministic validation, including the use of automated tests, compilation/type checking, linting, static analysis, security checks, contract validation or other objective quality gates to determine whether generated code is correct.
- Ability to explain how AI-generated output is evaluated, how failures are fed back into agent workflows, and how engineering quality is maintained when using AI extensively.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to make and defend technical trade-offs.

Nice to Haves:
- Experience with Amazon Bedrock or other enterprise LLM platforms.
- Experience with MCP, tool-enabled agents or multi-agent development workflows.
- Experience integrating AI agents with CI/CD or broader SDLC automation.
- Experience developing reusable prompt, context or agent frameworks for engineering teams.
- Knowledge of LLM evaluation, observability, guardrails and responsible AI practices.
- Previous experience within banking, lending, payments or other highly regulated enterprise environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
