Mission Island Group (MIG) is a locally owned waste management and recycling company serving Greater Victoria since 2000. We're seeking an experienced Lead Fleet Technician to keep our commercial fleet safe, compliant, and on the road supporting essential services across South Vancouver Island.

Join our dynamic team as a Lead Fleet Technician and take charge of maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and automotive vehicles. This energetic role offers the opportunity to lead a skilled team of technicians, ensuring all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. As a pivotal member of our maintenance department, you will utilize your extensive mechanical expertise and hands-on skills to troubleshoot complex issues, perform preventative maintenance, and oversee repair processes.

Full-Time, Permanent Monday to Friday | 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial trucks, trailers,



and fleet assets
- Manage preventative maintenance programs and minimize downtime
- Review DVIRs, defect reports, and repair priorities
- Coordinate parts, vendors, and outside service providers
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using fleet software
- Ensure compliance with CVSE requirements and company safety standards
- Mentor technicians and apprentices
- Drive continuous improvement in fleet reliability and shop efficiency

Qualifications

- Journeyperson Commercial Transport or Heavy Equipment Technician Certification
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
- Experience maintaining commercial truck fleets
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Personal hand and power tools relevant to the trade

Assets

- Class 1 or Class 3 Driver's Licence
- Fleetio or fleet maintenance software experience
- Lead Hand, Foreman, or supervisory experience
- Waste, recycling, transportation, or construction fleet experience

Location 6588 Bryn Road, Saanichton, BC

Combination of shop and field service work supporting fleet operations throughout South Vancouver Island.
