Position Summary
Cambrian College’s Library & Learning Centre has an immediate requirement for a Learning Strategist on a full-time basis.
Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement personalized learning strategy plans to support student academic success and skill development.
- Deliver individual and group coaching, workshops, and training on learning strategies, study skills, educational technologies, and academic success practices.
- Assess student learning strengths, challenges, and preferences, and recommend appropriate strategies, resources, and supports.
- Identify and facilitate referrals to the Glenn Crombie Centre and/or other academic support services as needed.
- Collaborate with faculty and other student service areas to coordinate supports and enhance student success outcomes.
- Create, maintain, and evaluate learning resources, programs, and training materials grounded in best practices and emerging trends.
- Support the development of policies, procedures, and quality assurance processes that promote student retention, persistence, and achievement.
- Monitor service utilization, maintain confidential records, analyze trends, and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Advance equitable, accessible, and inclusive learning environments by identifying and addressing barriers to student success.
- Participate in institutional initiatives, committees, and special projects that support the strategic goals of the Learning Centre, Academic Excellence, and the College.
Qualifications
Required:
- Must have a minimum of a four-year postsecondary degree in Education, Adult Education, Psychology, Disability Studies, or a related field. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
- Three years of experience working in an educational environment, preferably at the postsecondary level, assisting students with learning strategies
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds who face learning barriers, including students with learning disabilities and/or students who are distressed.
- Demonstrated teaching and workshop facilitation using experiential delivery models.
- Experience providing learning strategies, study skills, and digital support.
- Experience delivering and evaluating individualized interventions and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team while acting as an effective role model for students.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) including robust presentation skills and digital content creation skills.
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of adult learning principles.
Assets/Preferred:
- Specific education related to learning disabilities or education within a Learning Strategies Certificate program.
- Experience working with students at the post-secondary level.
