You'll care for a remarkably diverse patient population, moving seamlessly between adult and pediatric emergencies, complex medical presentations, and high acuity trauma and transplant cases. This is a place for nurses who want to make a difference and embrace the unexpected. As an RN in our state-of-the-art facility, you’ll use advanced technology, including an electronic patient tracking system, as you assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients across the full spectrum of emergency needs.
Depending on patient flow and departmental needs, you may work in any area of the Emergency Department, giving you exposure to highly specialized, skill building experiences. You’ll end each shift knowing you contributed to our mission to provide a patient focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.
In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care,
health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
Classification: Registered Nurse (2022.75) Union: United Nurses of Alberta Unit and Program: UAH Emergency U of A Hospital Multi-Site: At (UNA only) Employee Class: Regular Full Time Hours per Shift: 11.63 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 40 Shift Pattern: Days, Nights, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life
Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Minimum 1 year Medical/Surgical or Acute Care RN experience within the last two years required; Demonstrated excellent assessment, organization and patient care skills required along with the ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. At least 1 year of Emergency RN experience.
A minimum of 2 years in Med/Surg/Acute Care an asset. Recent tertiary/urban nursing practice and critical care experience within the last 2 years. A Certified Emergency Nurse designation (CAN or CNE). Robust assessment, organizational, patient care, and leadership skills are preferred #
