Job Overview

We are seeking a part time Vancouver based lawyer to join our legal team. In this role, you will play a vital part in legal research, drafting pleadings, preparation, which includes evidence collection, client communication, legal research, drafting pleadings and applications for chambers, affidavits and generally managing complex client files. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated lawyer eager to expand their career in litigation in a leadership capacity within a collaborative and fast-paced setting.

Important Note: This role starts part-time, and requires ability to file pleadings and applications in the BCSC civil registry in downtown Vancouver plus making appearances in court.

Responsibilities

- Legal Research
- Provide Legal Advice to clients on matters relating to residential tenancy law, commercial contract law, and general civil litigation.
- Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, affidavits, applications, evidence packages, and legal memos (FIRACs) to the managing lawyer.
- Manage case files efficiently within the firm's organizational systems
- Assist with negotiating settlements




- Conduct client communication via email and phone, as needed, to collect and organize client evidence for the purposes of drafting evidence packages in accordance with the firm's needs and instructions.

Qualifications

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in British Columbia.
- Litigation Experience is preferred.
- Commercial Tenancy litigation is highly preferred
- Residential Tenancy experience is preferred
- Excellent communication skills in order to handle client calls professionally, empathetically, calmly and patiently.
- Writing skills demonstrated through clear drafting of legal documents and correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously under tight deadlines with attention to detail.
