HSPP is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Assistant. We are looking for someone who has 2-4 years’ experience, working within a manufacturing or steel industry. The chosen candidate must be a self-motivated individual, who has strong communication skills, and thrives working in a team environment.

Responsibilities

- Assist Maintenance Supervisor and outside contractors with all maintenance-related tasks, including without limitation repairs, diagnostics, installations, assessments, scheduling, preventative interventions, tool inventory and supply, and such other tasks as directed
- Making and organizing maintenance-related records, and using maintenance-related software
- Assist with basic housekeeping and organization, including cleaning of machines, tidying of work areas, and organizing of storage areas for tooling and spare parts
- Install, assemble, and test machines and equipment
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment
- Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual and sound inspections
- Report on needed spares or consumables.
- Fill out work orders as needed
- Perform reactive maintenance as needed
- Input records related to the work performed including materials and supplies in a computerized format
- Basic electrical duties.




- Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions

Qualifications

- Demonstrated ability to safely use a variety of hand and power tools
- Basic mechanical aptitude: ability to assemble, install, and disassemble equipment, and to recognize signs of wear or malfunction through visual and auditory inspection
- Basic electrical knowledge sufficient to perform routine tasks under direction (e.g. identifying components, replacing consumables, assisting licensed personnel)
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, equipment manuals, schematics, and basic technical drawings
- Ability to accurately record materials, supplies, and labour in a computerized format
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices
- Well organized, with the ability to maintain accurate records and keep tooling, spares, and work areas orderly
- Reliable and able to take direction from senior maintenance personnel and supervisors
- Effective communicator who works well within a team and alongside outside contractors
- Flexible and available to work overtime and weekends during scheduled shutdowns
