We have an prospect for a Maintenance Manager in Cambridge, ON.

FUNCTION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing technical activities, as well as leading technical engineering improvement projects, related to the maintenance of GMP manufacturing equipment and systems. Reporting to the Production Director, this role ensures compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

The Maintenance

Manager leads a multidisciplinary team and oversees the development and implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, continuous improvement initiatives, and technical support strategies to optimize equipment performance, safety, and reliability.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Leads the electrical and mechanical maintenance staff to ensure all, preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance activities are performed to support manufacturing operations.
- Works closely with Production Shift Managers to provide maintenance and technical support where it will be of greatest benefit to overall manufacturing operations.
- Analyzes manufacturing equipment performance to identify sources of downtime and scrap production; allocates and prioritizes maintenance resources to determine root causes of equipment performance problems and correct them.




- Ensures the sustainability of all improvements by revising and creating Preventative Maintenance procedures.
- Identify, present and justify means to increase equipment efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support validation group activities to ensure all qualified production equipment and processes are suitably maintained to ensure a continued state of validation.
- Analyzes maintenance requirements and assesses spare part criticality to ensure needed parts are available while minimizing inventory carrying cost.
- Identify means to reduce cost while maintaining equipment performance through sourcing of alternate parts suppliers and contractors, and improvement of maintenance practices and procedures.
- Leads and/or participates on continuous improvement teams. Develops, analyzes and implements continuous improvement ideas to meet long term required cost reductions and increase profitability.
- Provides direct ongoing support to all areas for expeditious troubleshooting and resolution of equipment breakdowns, production delays and quality issues. Solutions are implemented through the direction and coordination of maintenance personnel or contract service vendors.
- Assesses training needs of departmental staff and ensure personnel are suitably cross trained to provide comprehensive maintenance support to manufacturing.
- Manages the work of outside contractors or trades personnel required for the completion of projects.
- Sources and screens new suppliers and technologies to determine their capabilities in fulfilling, maintenance, production, compliance, safety, quality control and regulatory requirements.
- Forecasts maintenance costs, prepares budget requests and manages departmental budget.
- Manages the performance and development of all direct reports. In conjunction with the Human Resources Department, conducts Employee Relations activities. Conducts the hiring process for departmental staff, as well as training and development initiatives.

- Manages process related documentation and ensures departmental records, specifications, SOPs, Master Equipment Files, and all as-built and master set drawings are kept in compliance with Company, HPB/FDA, WHMIS standards, regulations and legal requirements.
- Acts as an ambassador in modeling and promoting a safe work environment. Is accountable for the enforcement and monitoring of the Safety Program ensuring safety rules / regulations are followed.
- Leads, directs, evaluates, and develops a team of staff in accordance with the companies Mission, Vision and Values Statements, policies,



and current standard business practices.
- Must be able to periodically be present on all shifts, including weekends.
- Performs other related duties as required.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Education

- Bachelor of Engineering Science degree or equivalent from a recognized academic institution, or has equivalent work/educational experience
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license is an asset.

Experience

- A minimum of 5 years’

experience in a related role within the pharmaceutical, cosmetic or food manufacturing industries with a minimum of 2 years direct management experience.

- A minimum of 5 years working in an equipment design or maintenance capacity.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, and develop staff, as well as work within cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience guiding conflict resolution and facilitating employee relations activities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proven knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and other Employment related legislation such as the Employment Standards Act.
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to make sound business decisions.
- Experience in planning and execution of significant projects utilizing formal project management and operations methodology.

Compensation Starting at approximately $125,000.00 CAD with opportunity for increase based on qualifications and experience. Total rewards include comprehensive benefits, bonus eligibility, and professional development support.
