Mamwentuh Housing Society (MHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing safe, affordable, and culturally inclusive housing for Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members in Dawson Creek. Position Summary The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and preventative tasks to ensure that MHS properties remain in excellent condition. This role plays a vital part in supporting the comfort, safety, and well-being of our tenants while upholding the Society’s values and standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform general maintenance and repairs on residential units, buildings, and grounds, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting work.
- Conduct regular inspections of housing units and common areas to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
- Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with unit turnovers, including cleaning, repairs, and preparing suites for current tenants.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, materials used, and time spent on tasks by filling out the maintenance log on the shared drive.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and supplies are safely used and properly stored.
- Support snow removal, lawn care, and seasonal upkeep of exterior grounds for Driver House and the triplexes.




- Respond to urgent maintenance calls and tenant concerns promptly and respectfully.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and other team members to plan and prioritize maintenance schedules.
- Follow all workplace safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Promote a positive image of Mamwentuh Housing Society in all tenant and community interactions.
- Mentor and transport summer students different work sites
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or a related trade.
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repair techniques.
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a respectful approach toward tenants and coworkers.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset.
- A clear Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector) is required.

Work Environment

- Primarily on-site work at MHS properties and housing units.
- May include occasional after-hours or weekend work for emergency repairs.

Compensation

- $26 per hour
