Mechanical Designer

Position Status: Full Time Permanent

Location: Mississauga, ON and On-Site

Hours: 40 hours per week; Hours can be flexible to meet the needs of the project

Toronto is an established leader in controls integration, project management, and engineering services for a wide range of clients in a variety of industries. The main industries we support include but are not limited to Food & Beverage, Brewing, Life Sciences and Energy industry. This is a full time permanent role reporting directly to the Operations Manager – Industrial Automation.

Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Designer will play a critical role in the design and development of mechanical systems for industrial automation projects. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure that all designs meet functional, safety, and manufacturability requirements. Assignments will consist of projects within the Greater Toronto Area with the potential of projects to be located across Canada/USA.

To be successful in this role, the incumbent must be positive and cheerful, hands on, adaptable, enjoy taking on challenges, and able to cut through the small stuffs to get the job done. Travel to customer sites is expected and the incumbent must be comfortable working at customer sites for varying amounts of time. The primary responsibilities in this role include and are not limited to:

- Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models and renderings.
- Design and develop complex weldments and assemblies, ensuring structural integrity and manufacturability.
- Create sheet metal parts,



including flat patterns and bend allowances.
- Produce detailed drawing packages with accurate dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Provide technical support throughout fabrication and installation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design issues, ensuring high-quality and reliable products.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Requirements:

- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Specialist or similar role.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling and rendering.
- Strong understanding of weldments, assemblies, and sheet metal design.
- Experience with creating detailed drawing packages and technical documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
- Valid class G driver's license and personal transportation to travel to customer job sites
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Experience with other CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.




- Certification in SolidWorks (e.g., CSWP, CSWE).
- Experience with 3D scanning tools and workflows.

About your working environment

- Travel is required within Ontario, Canada and outside of Canada.
- Will be required to wear protective equipment in designated areas such as hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed safety boots.
- May be exposed to cold, heat and humidity, loud noise levels, and dust.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Overtime as required.

Compensation: Base pay: $70,000 – $90,000. The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills and qualifications. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
