As a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, the primary function of the Mental Health and Addiction Support Worker (MHASW) is to ensure that EHN Canada operates in accordance with the goals and objectives of the treatment program during times when counseling and administrative staff are unavailable. This role is crucial for providing support, maintaining program integrity, and fostering a protected environment for clients on their recovery journey.

The MHASW provide support, encouragement and facilitate some psychoeducational sessions. Please note that this is a casual position and may require flexibility to work different shift schedules. Lead newcomers’ groups and facilitate therapeutic and community meetings.

Monitor patient attendance in structured activities and provide support as needed. Assist patients who may struggle to remain engaged in activities including therapeutically challenging clients about maladaptive behaviours. Supervise patient activities in the absence of counseling staff,



ensuring compliance with facility procedures.

Ensure the security of both patients and the facility after daily activities conclude. Be available to support patients experiencing emotional difficulties. Immediately notify on-call leadership in the event of emergencies.

Record significant occurrences and general observations in patient health record or incident reporting system Provide first aid when trained, until medical staff arrive. Support with communications as directed. Conduct regular rounds to monitor patient well-being and report any concerns.
