We are seeking an experienced Data Architect with deep Microsoft Fabric expertise to design and guide modern enterprise data platforms across the Microsoft technology ecosystem. This position requires a strong foundation in enterprise data architecture combined with substantial hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and its core workloads.

The successful candidate will be comfortable owning architecture across the full data lifecycle - from source integration and ingestion through OneLake, Lakehouse and Warehouse architecture, transformation, semantic modelling, governance, security, and analytics consumption. This is not strictly a conceptual architecture position; candidates should have sufficient technical depth to validate implementation approaches, work closely with data engineers and BI developers, and provide practical technical leadership throughout delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Define target-state enterprise data architectures using Microsoft Fabric and supporting Microsoft technologies.
- Design Fabric environments across tenants, domains, workspaces, capacities, OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, and other Fabric workloads.
- Establish scalable data architecture patterns including medallion architecture, dimensional modelling, lakehouse architecture, data warehousing, and data-domain or data-product approaches.
- Determine appropriate use of Fabric Lakehouse, Warehouse, SQL endpoints, semantic models, Real-Time Intelligence, and other Fabric capabilities based on solution requirements.
- Architect enterprise data ingestion and integration using Fabric Data Factory, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Mirroring, OneLake Shortcuts, APIs, and other integration approaches.
- Design scalable ETL/ELT patterns supporting structured, semi-structured, batch, incremental, and near-real-time data workloads.
- Guide data transformation approaches using SQL, Python, PySpark, Spark, Fabric Notebooks, Delta tables, and related technologies.
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support transactional, analytical, reporting, and enterprise data requirements.
- Define dimensional models, star schemas, curated data products, semantic layers, and reusable enterprise data structures.
- Architect Power BI integration with Fabric, including semantic models, Direct Lake, DirectQuery and Import strategies, data security, performance, and enterprise reporting standards.
- Establish data governance, cataloguing, lineage, classification, quality, retention, and lifecycle standards using Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview capabilities.
- Design appropriate security models using Microsoft Entra ID, role-based access control, workspace and item permissions, and row-, column-, or object-level data security.
- Define architecture standards for integrating Fabric with Microsoft business platforms such as Dataverse, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, SharePoint, Microsoft 365 data sources, and enterprise APIs where appropriate.




- Architect integrations with existing Azure data technologies including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, ADLS Gen2, Databricks, Event Hubs, and related services.
- Assess existing data platforms and develop modernization or migration approaches into Microsoft Fabric.
- Establish DataOps and DevOps practices including Git integration, source control, environment promotion, Fabric deployment pipelines, Azure DevOps, automated deployment, and release governance.
- Provide guidance on Fabric capacity planning, performance optimization, workload management, scalability, monitoring, and cost management.
- Establish architecture standards, design patterns, technical documentation, decision records, and reusable implementation guidance.
- Conduct architecture reviews and validate technical designs produced by data engineering, analytics, BI, and application teams.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, BI developers, analysts, application teams, security specialists, and project leadership to translate business requirements into practical data solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to delivery teams.
- Identify architectural risks, dependencies, technical debt, data-quality concerns, and implementation constraints early in the delivery lifecycle.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Significant experience in data architecture, data engineering, analytics architecture, enterprise data platforms, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering enterprise-scale data and analytics solutions.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including production implementation or architecture responsibility across multiple Fabric capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of OneLake architecture, Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse, Data Factory, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks, semantic models, and Power BI integration.
- Demonstrated ability to design end-to-end Fabric solutions rather than working exclusively within a single Fabric workload.
- Strong understanding of medallion architecture, data lakehouse patterns, data warehousing, dimensional modelling, data domains, and enterprise data architecture principles.
- Strong SQL and T-SQL skills, including data modelling, transformation, optimization, and complex analytical workloads.
- Hands-on knowledge of Python and PySpark/Spark for enterprise data processing and transformation.
- Strong experience with Power BI architecture, semantic modelling, DAX, Power Query, Direct Lake, security, performance optimization, and governed enterprise analytics.
- Experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise ingestion patterns using Fabric Data Factory, Azure Data Factory, or comparable technologies.
- Robust understanding of Delta Lake, Parquet, lakehouse storage patterns, incremental processing,



change data capture, and large-scale data transformation.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure data services such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure SQL, and/or Azure Databricks.
- Experience designing secure enterprise data environments using Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, least-privilege access, and appropriate data-level security controls.
- Experience implementing or contributing to enterprise data governance, metadata management, lineage, data quality, classification, and compliance practices.
- Experience with Git-based development, CI/CD, Azure DevOps and/or GitHub, environment promotion, and DataOps practices.
- Experience developing architecture diagrams, solution designs, technical standards, roadmaps, decision records, and implementation guidance.
- Strong understanding of data integration patterns involving APIs, relational databases, files, SaaS platforms, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
- Ability to translate business, information, security, and reporting requirements into scalable technical architecture.
- Strong technical leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to operate independently, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and provide clear recommendations supported by practical implementation experience.

- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600).
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700).
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) or related Microsoft certifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, enterprise data cataloguing, lineage, sensitivity labelling, and information governance.
- Experience administering or architecting Fabric capacities, workspaces, domains, tenant settings, security models, and capacity utilization.
- Experience migrating Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, traditional data warehouses, Power BI estates, or other analytics platforms to Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong understanding of Dataverse and integration between Microsoft Fabric, Dynamics 365, and Power Platform.
- Experience integrating SharePoint Online, Microsoft Graph, Microsoft 365, or other Microsoft SaaS data sources into enterprise analytics platforms.
- Experience with Fabric Real-Time Intelligence, Eventstreams, Eventhouse, KQL, streaming data, or event-driven analytics.
- Experience with Azure Databricks and an understanding of architectural trade-offs between Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience designing enterprise self-service analytics environments and reusable certified semantic models.
- Experience with Fabric Copilot, data agents, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, or architecture supporting AI-ready enterprise data.
- Knowledge of master data management, data quality frameworks, metadata-driven architecture, or data-product operating models.
- Experience working within public sector, regulatory, or other governance-intensive enterprise environments.
- Previous consulting experience and demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions directly with clients.
