The Microsoft Licensing & FinOps Specialist is a full-time role responsible for managing and optimizing Microsoft licensing and cloud consumption across Azure and Microsoft 365, including analyzing usage patterns, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring compliance with licensing agreements. The specialist collaborates with clients and internal teams to design and implement FinOps best practices, maintain accurate cost reporting, and develop governance frameworks for cloud spending. Day-to-day tasks include conducting licensing assessments, preparing financial and usage reports, advising on licensing options and agreements, and supporting solution architects with cost models and business cases.
The role also involves educating stakeholders on cloud financial management, supporting renewal and true-up activities, and contributing to continuous improvement of Invero’s licensing and FinOps processes.
Qualifications:
- Strong Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex licensing and financial concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Business Process skills, including experience mapping, improving, and governing processes related to licensing, procurement, and cloud cost management.
- Consulting skills, including client-facing experience, requirements discovery, and the ability to provide recommendations aligned with business objectives.
- Solution Architecture and Cloud Computing skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and common cloud service models and pricing structures.
- FinOps practices competency, cloud cost optimization tools, and financial reporting or budgeting for IT and cloud environments.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or FinOps-related credentials are an asset.
- Post-secondary education in business, finance, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
- Robust analytical, Excel or data analysis skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive team environment are beneficial.
What you will do: Manage the Microsoft licensing lifecycle
- Manage and optimize Microsoft CSP software licensing throughout the customer lifecycle, from pre-sales presentations and initial recommendations through onboarding, changes, and renewals.
- Advise customers on licensing options, programs, and commercial models across Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Windows Server, and other Microsoft offerings.
- Prepare accurate quotes, pricing scenarios, customer contracts, renewal documentation, and supporting commercial materials.
- Coordinate licensing purchases, changes, co-terming considerations, and renewal activities with disciplined follow-through.
- Support CSP agreement lifecycle activities and related administration in Microsoft Partner Center and internal systems.
- Maintain clear records of customer entitlements, commitments, renewal dates, decisions, and outstanding actions.
Deliver practical FinOps and Azure cost optimization
- Work with customers to develop and implement practical FinOps strategies that optimize cloud costs and improve financial accountability.
- Prepare cloud usage reports and concise executive summaries that explain spend, trends, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
- Identify cost-saving and governance opportunities across Azure environments.
- Assist customers with Azure reservation purchase planning and with setting up cost alerts and related controls.
- Help customers connect cloud consumption to business priorities, ownership, budgeting, and decision-making.
- Promote an ongoing optimization mindset rather than treating cost management as a one-time exercise.
Support sales and customer growth
- Participate in customer pursuits, including pre-sales calls, discovery, account strategy, pricing strategy, and proposal development.
- Present Invero’s CSP and FinOps value proposition in clear, customer-relevant language.
- Provide licensing and cloud financial management subject matter expertise to strengthen recommendations and reduce commercial risk.
- Identify opportunities to improve a customer’s licensing position, Azure value, governance, or broader Microsoft cloud strategy.
- Build trusted relationships with customer stakeholders through responsive, reliable, and proactive support.
Lead client engagement and education
- Guide customers through licensing and cloud cost decisions without overwhelming them with unnecessary complexity.
- Run working sessions and business reviews that turn data into clear decisions and next steps.
- Evangelize FinOps practices within client organizations and help stakeholders understand their role in cloud financial accountability.
- Communicate effectively with technical, financial, procurement, operational, and executive audiences.
- Close loops, document decisions, and maintain momentum across active customer initiatives.
Improve processes, documentation, and repeatability:
- Share knowledge across the team and help build confidence in licensing and FinOps conversations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft licensing, CSP programs, cloud services, and relevant FinOps practices.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of CSP and FinOps processes, templates, reports, checklists, and customer-facing materials.
- Capture repeatable approaches for quoting, onboarding, optimization reviews, renewals, and executive reporting.
- Identify process gaps or recurring customer challenges and recommend practical improvements.
Qualifications we are looking for:
- Minimum of three years of experience in Microsoft licensing management, supporting Microsoft customer environments, cloud financial operations, or similar work within a cloud vendor, reseller, consultancy, managed services provider, or end-user organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, finance, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft cloud services and Microsoft Partner Center.
- Practical understanding of Microsoft licensing options and commercial considerations across Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, server products, and related offerings.
- Experience supporting customer-facing work across quoting, pricing, contracts, onboarding, renewals, or account management.
- Ability to analyze cloud usage and cost information, identify meaningful opportunities, and communicate recommendations clearly.
- Strong analytical,
problem-solving, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with business, technical, financial, and executive stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple customer priorities, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
Additional Certifications & Nice-to-Haves
- Relevant certifications, such as FinOps Certified Practitioner or Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, are considered an asset. If not already completed, related certifications will be encouraged within the first year.
- Experience working in a Microsoft partner, CSP, managed services, professional services, or cloud consultancy environment.
- Familiarity with Azure cost management, reservations, budgets, alerts, tagging, governance, and consumption reporting.
- Experience producing executive summaries, customer business reviews, or commercial optimization recommendations.
- Understanding of procurement, renewal planning, software asset management, or cloud economics.
- Comfort working with CRM, quoting, reporting, spreadsheet, and documentation tools.
- Experience helping organizations adopt or mature FinOps practices.
