Company Description:

The Cardinal Power facility is a nominally rated 156 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant that dispatches into the Ontario electricity market. The facility consists of a Siemens/Westinghouse 501D5 gas turbine generator, Siemens/Westinghouse steam turbine generator, river water cooled surface condenser, dual pressure Zurn heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), auxiliary boiler, water treatment facility (Glegg units), compressed air facility and associated ancillary equipment. In 2017 Cardinal Power commenced operations & maintenance of a 15 MW combined heat and power (CHP) facility; Siemens SGT400 and Cleaver Brooks boiler.

Position Summary The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and alignment of mechanical equipment and systems within the power plant. This position ensures the protected, reliable, and efficient operation of plant assets through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.

The Mechanical

Technician works closely with Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation, and contracted service providers to maximize equipment availability and plant reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair rotating and stationary mechanical equipment.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on plant equipment.
- Overhaul turbines, pumps, compressors, fans, valves, gearboxes, motors, heat exchangers, and auxiliary equipment.
- Remove, install, align, and commission mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform precision shaft alignment.
- Monitor equipment condition and identify developing failure modes.




- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.
- Support reliability improvement initiatives and plant optimization projects.
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance procedures and work instructions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment histories.

Qualifications:

- Ontario Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) (433A) and 5 years of relevant experience or 10 years of relevant experience.
- Valid Class G driver's license.
- Working knowledge of WHMIS, Lockout/Tagout, and industrial safety programs.
- Minimum 10 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience in power generation, heavy industrial, manufacturing, or process industries considered an asset.
- Experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems preferred.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work at heights.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and industrial environments.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment as required (PPE).
- Ability to work extended hours, shift work, weekends, and outages when required
