We’re looking for orgaized, communicative, and proactive volunteers to help us organize Halifax Design Week, taking place November 13 to 15, 2026.

This is a short-term, hands-on chance for people who want to contribute to a growing design and community event in Halifax. We are especially interested in volunteers who can commit 5 to 10 hours per week between now and the event , with additional availability during the event weekend if possible.

Volunteer roles

We are currently looking for support in the following areas:

- Research and content writing: Researching historical sites, local places, designers, organizations, and other event-related topics, then helping turn that research into clear and engaging content.
- Outreach and communications: Supporting email outreach, making phone calls, contacting potential partners and participants, and maintaining professional communication.
- Project tracking and coordination: Updating task lists, tracking progress, organizing information, and helping the team stay aware of upcoming deadlines.
- Follow-up and accountability: Following up with team members, confirming next steps, checking progress, and helping ensure that agreed tasks are completed on time.

You may apply for one specific role or indicate that you are interested in supporting multiple areas.

What we need

Please apply only if you can:

- Commit 5 to 10 hours per week consistently.
- Communicate proactively and provide regular updates.




- Respond to messages within an agreed timeframe.
- Complete tasks independently and ask questions when something is unclear.
- Follow through on commitments without needing repeated reminders.
- Attend scheduled meetings or provide advance notice if you cannot attend.
- Work respectfully and collaboratively with a small organizing team.
- Use basic digital tools such as email, shared documents, spreadsheets, calendars, or project-tracking platforms.

Important : Previous experience in research, writing, communications, outreach, event planning, project coordination, design, history, heritage, or community organizing is an asset. However, reliability, initiative, and follow-through are more important than having a perfect background.
