Position Overview

Sussex Realty is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Handyperson to join our team.

This position offers a unique starting opportunity: you will initially be dedicated to a brand-new, 300+ unit residential development to manage suite work orders lists, general maintenance, and post-construction touch-ups. As the building stabilizes, this role has the flexibility to transition into either:

- A permanent, salaried, live-on-site Maintenance position at the new property, OR
- A permanent trades role, providing ongoing maintenance across our portfolio of over 150+ properties in Winnipeg.

What You’ll Do As our Maintenance Handyperson, you will play a key role in ensuring our properties remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. Your day-to-day duties will include:

- Carpentry & Finishes: Door repairs, trim installation/replacement, drywall patching, minor framing, and cabinet adjustments.
- Light Plumbing: Fixing leaks, replacing taps, sinks, or toilets, unclogging drains, and minor pipe repairs.
- Light Electrical: Replacing light fixtures, wall outlets, switches, and troubleshooting simple wiring issues.
- General Maintenance: Resolving suite deficiencies, post-handover tasks, and general handyman duties.
- Site Coverage:



Primary focus at our current 300+ unit property.

What We’re Looking For

- Trade Experience: Solid background in carpentry, light plumbing, and basic electrical maintenance.
- Tools & Transport: Must own basic hand tools and have a reliable personal vehicle.
- Work Style: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks efficiently, and troubleshoot issues on the fly.
- Tenant Relations: Professional, courteous, and comfortable working in active residential units and communicating with residents.
- Attributes: Strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and a positive, problem-solving attitude.
