Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated newspaper reporter for our independently owned weekly newspaper. In this role, you will be at the forefront of delivering compelling, accurate, and timely news stories that inform and engage our diverse readership. Your passion for storytelling, strong research skills, and ability to communicate effectively will help shape the narratives that matter most to our community.

Duties

- Research, investigate, and gather information on a wide range of topics relevant to the community and current events
- Write clear, concise, and engaging news articles that adhere to journalistic standards and editorial guidelines
- Conduct interviews with sources, witnesses, experts, and officials to obtain accurate information
- Proofread and copy edit articles to ensure grammatical accuracy, factual correctness, and consistency in tone and style




- Stay informed about local issues to provide timely coverage
- Maintain organized records of research materials, interview notes, and source contacts

- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – to craft compelling stories and conduct interviews confidently
- Robust writing skills with an eye for detail, clarity, and engaging storytelling techniques
- Proven proofreading and copy editing skills to ensure high-quality content before publication
- Robust research skills to verify facts, gather background information, and uncover new angles on stories
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and professionalism

Pay: $36,000.00-$42,000.00 per year
