Ocean Import & Export Coordinator
Department: Logistics / Supply Chain
Reports To: Logistics Manager / Operations Manager
Position Summary The Ocean Import & Export Coordinator is responsible for managing international ocean shipments from origin to final delivery. This role ensures compliance with international trade regulations, coordinates with carriers and freight forwarders, prepares shipping documentation, and tracks shipments to ensure timely and cost-effective movement of goods. The coordinator acts as a key point of contact between customers, vendors, and logistics partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate ocean import and export shipments from booking through final delivery.
- Prepare and review shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, and Certificates of Origin.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
- Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and customers regarding shipment status and documentation.
- Track shipments and proactively resolve delays, port issues, or documentation discrepancies.
- Coordinate customs clearance with brokers and provide necessary documentation.
- Manage booking requests with ocean carriers and ensure appropriate routing and transit times.
- Maintain accurate shipment records in the logistics or transportation management system.
- Monitor freight costs and verify carrier invoices for accuracy.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for logistics processes and cost efficiencies.
- Provide regular shipment updates to internal stakeholders and customers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 1-2 years of experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, or ocean import/export operations.
- Knowledge of ocean freight procedures, Incoterms, and customs documentation.
- Experience working with customs brokers, steamship lines, and freight forwarders.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
