We're actively seeking new talent to join our mission of delivering a stronger energy future in B.As a Distribution Design Technologist, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and managing electrical distribution projects that support safe, reliable, and cost-effective service delivery. You will act as the primary point of contact for customers, builders, developers, contractors, and internal stakeholders while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical, regulatory, and safety requirements.

Project

Design & Management Manage electrical distribution service projects from initial customer inquiry through construction completion. Define project scope, gather customer requirements, and develop practical, cost-effective distribution designs. Coordinate internal and external resources, including surveying, land services, permitting, and specialized equipment. Ensure projects meet safety standards, technical requirements, customer expectations, and regulatory obligations.

Technical Expertise

Design and assess electrical distribution systems in accordance with company standards, applicable codes, and industry best practices. Conduct field reviews and site assessments to support project planning and design. Analyze utility data, legal land-base information, and geographic conditions to determine optimal service solutions.

Support distribution system upgrades, overbuilds, maintenance activities, and customer-driven service requests. Customer & Stakeholder Relations Serve as the primary contact for customers, builders, developers, municipalities, contractors, and other stakeholders.



Build and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive, professional service.

Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure project requirements are met. Provide guidance and technical support to team members and stakeholders. Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.

Successful completion of a Technologist Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a directly related field (e.g.

Electrical

Engineering) AND certified or deemed eligible for certification at the technologist level by the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC)", OR the completion of a Red Seal Journeyperson in a related field (e.g.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years related experience in powerline distribution and operations, including design, construction, maintenance, and operation of distribution powerline facilities. Staking and site layout or surveying skills. Knowledge of electrical distribution systems.

Knowledge of and ability to apply legal plans and electrical codes – Canadian Electrical Code. Knowledge of Land Survey Act. Comprehensive knowledge of computer systems including Word, Excel, Access and MS Outlook Comprehensive knowledge of GIS systems (e.g.

Ability to analyze and resolve problems of a technical nature, and understand the implication of costs, risks, operability and safety. Communicates in a courteous and professional manner when dealing with internal and external customers and stakeholders, including robust collaboration and interpersonal skills and the ability to participate and provide direction within a positive team environment.
