Job Summary

We are seeking an Optical Assistant to join our team and support the operations of our practice. The role is pre-testing client's prior to their optometrist appointment. The role will include administrative tasks, cleaning and ensuring a smooth and skilled experience for our clients.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in healthcare, eyecare and optometric services. Please be advised, this is not a reception position. This is an optometric assistant position.

The work day will be primarily pre-testing clients.

Responsibilities

- Greet patients
- Taking patient history, including using an auto lensometer
- Pre-test clients prior to their optometrist appointment, including using an Autorefractor, Auto Tonometer, OCT and Visual Field Machine.
- Support staff with administration when needed, including answering phones, and booking appointments using an electronic patient management system
- Office cleaning, including washrooms

Qualifications





- Prior experience and competancy in optometry pretesting and is an asset
- Basic optical prescription knowledge
- Ability to work in a client focused, team environment
- Ability to take direction, retain instructions and collaborate with team
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team

Previous experience in an optometry office is an asset. Applicants must be comfortable performing pretesting, while training is provided, prior experience would be a strong asset. This position would be ideal for someone looking for part-time hours. Hours may fluctuate. We value professionalism and strong interpersonal skills. Personal cell phones are not permitted in the healthcare space, and will be kept out of the primary office area.

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
