Position Summary
Oxford College Mississauga Campus is seeking a knowledgeable, experienced, and student-focused Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program Instructor to deliver classroom, laboratory, and/or practicum instruction to students enrolled in the Personal Support Worker program.
The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the appropriate regulatory college and will bring practical healthcare experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for supporting students in developing the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required to work safely and effectively as Personal Support Workers.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in accordance with the approved PSW program curriculum and policies.
- Deliver classroom, laboratory, and practical learning activities.
- Teach students foundational concepts related to personal support, health, wellness, safety, infection prevention and control, and client care.
- Demonstrate and evaluate PSW skills and procedures in a laboratory or simulated learning environment.
- Facilitate student learning through lectures, demonstrations, discussions, case studies, simulations, and other instructional methods.
- Supervise and evaluate students during lab and/or practicum learning experiences.
- Assess student knowledge and skills through assignments, quizzes, examinations, demonstrations, skills evaluations, and other approved assessment methods.
- Provide students with timely, constructive feedback regarding their academic and practical performance.
- Maintain accurate and timely student attendance, grades, assessment records, and other required academic documentation.
- Identify students who may require additional academic or practical support and communicate concerns to the Campus Manager or appropriate academic personnel.
- Maintain a professional learning environment that promotes respect, inclusion, safety, and student engagement.
- Ensure instruction and assessment are delivered consistently with College policies, procedures, curriculum requirements, and applicable regulatory or legislative requirements.
- Incorporate current healthcare practices, professional standards, infection prevention and control principles, and workplace safety practices into instruction.
- Maintain current knowledge of PSW practice, healthcare trends, and relevant legislation and standards.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, curriculum activities, student meetings, and other College initiatives as required.
- Support students in developing professional behaviours, communication skills, ethical practices, and client-centred care.
- Perform other teaching and academic duties as assigned by the Campus Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Ontario, in good standing with the applicable regulatory college.
- Diploma or degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Relevant clinical experience in healthcare, community care, long-term care, acute care,
or another applicable healthcare setting.
- Experience working with individuals requiring personal support and/or healthcare services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PSW scope of practice, client-centred care, safety, infection prevention and control, and professional practice.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, mentor, and evaluate adult learners.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to create a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications and online learning platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching or instructional experience in a PSW, nursing, healthcare, or career-college setting.
- Experience supervising students in clinical or community placement settings.
- Adult education, teaching, training, or instructional experience.
- Experience developing or delivering skills-based healthcare education.
- Current certifications in areas such as CPR, First Aid, or other relevant healthcare training.

Job Types: Permanent, Part-time Pay: $30.00-$34.00 per hour
