Pre-K Educational Assistant III - w�hk�htowin
Saskatoon Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a part-time Pre-K Educational Assistant III supporting at w�hk�htowin School. The primary responsibility of the Pre-K Educational Assistant III is to assist the students in reaching their maximum potential and level of independence. Under the direction of the classroom teacher, the Educational Assistant provides assistance and support in the delivery of educational programming to prekindergarten students in this program.
Applicants must possess a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, along with successful completion of at least one year of post-secondary education related to special education programs, such as Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Education, Youth Worker, or Rehabilitation Worker. A combination of education and related experience may be considered.
A strong understanding of Indigenous traditions, values, cultures, and perspectives is required,
including an understanding of the importance of incorporating Indigenous perspectives into the support provided to students and families. Experience working with Indigenous students and families is considered an asset.
The successful candidate must have at least one year of related experience and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to support and de-escalate students in a respectful, skilled, and culturally responsive manner. The successful candidate must be able to respond appropriately to students who may demonstrate severe opposition, aggressive or threatening behaviours, or use inappropriate and/or threatening language.
The ability to work effectively in a variety of environments and to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting or transferring students who require assistance with mobility or bathrooming, is required. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
