The Production Supervisor (Night Shift) is responsible for delivering production plans according to quality requirements, timelines, and budgets within their assigned departments. They provide the necessary support to the team (team leads) and mobilize resources to achieve objectives and drive continuous improvement within their area. They ensure compliance with health and safety (H&S;) policies, the top priority, and support the optimal development of their team based on operational needs.
They promote the development and adherence to manufacturing methods and standards.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of night shift production crews ensuring manufacturing is being done in a safe and productive manner.
- Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
- Verifies that there is sufficient stock on hand to meet production requirements and requisitions inventory from various production yards when needed.
- Interprets customer specifications and job orders to workers and assigns duties.
- Interfaces with sales department to ensure production deadlines are met.
- Coordinates quality control inspections for compliance to standard specifications
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and end targets.
- Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, environmental requirements, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Participates and contributes to company safety program.
- Goes over the pole trucks with the shipper and receiver to verify priorities.
- Checks kiln operations/treating for CCA treated pole orders
- Programs labels into database files if needed
- Places orders with the Production Manager or Manager, Plant Maintenance for any equipment or tools needed in the framing area
- Checks pole trailers once loaded to ensure accuracy
- Loader and equipment training
- Keep team educated, engaged and encourage good and protected behaviour.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in manufacturing
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel)
- Experience with ERP Systems (SAP knowledge is an asset)
- Knowledge of: Wood Treating Industry,
Health and Safety Standards and CSA-Canadian Standards Association and ANSI-American National Standards Institute poles specifications
