The Opportunity

Kanin Energy is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the development and execution of industrial decarbonization and power generation projects across North America.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineering partners, equipment suppliers, contractors, and industrial host facilities to advance projects from early development through engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to gain exposure across the full project lifecycle and grow into increasingly senior project leadership roles as Kanin continues to expand its portfolio across North America.

Key Responsibilities

Project Development, Engineering & Execution

- Support execution of projects through scope definition, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Coordinate project activities, schedules, deliverables, and stakeholder communications.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, risk registers, and execution plans.
- Take ownership of assigned project workstreams and help ensure deliverables are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Support project development activities including utility interconnection, permitting, grant applications, and technical due diligence.




- Develop and maintain key project documentation, including:

Project charters Cost estimates and cash flow forecasts

Schedules and execution plans

Interconnection applications

RFP/RFQ packages

Procurement documentation

Construction deliverables

Commissioning and startup plans

- Review engineering deliverables and support multidisciplinary design coordination.
- Support commercial evaluations, contracting activities, vendor selection, and procurement processes.
- Identify and proactively communicate project risks, technical challenges, and schedule impacts.

Stakeholder & Contractor Management

- Organize and facilitate internal and external project meetings, documenting actions and follow-up items.
- Support project managers in maintaining relationships with client partners, vendors, EPC contractors, engineering consultants, and other project stakeholders.
- Assist in coordinating external engineering firms, contractors, equipment suppliers, specialty service providers, and grid operators.
- Prepare and deliver project updates and status reports to management, project partners, and customers.

Qualifications

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) actively working toward professional registration.
- 3-7 years of experience in project engineering, project management, project development, or engineering design within the power, industrial, oil and gas, or energy sectors.
- Experience supporting power generation, industrial facility, or infrastructure projects through engineering and execution phases.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.




- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project and partner sites throughout the United States and Canada.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will be viewed favorably:

- Utility interconnection processes, electrical system studies, and power system analysis.
- Waste heat-to-power, combined heat and power (CHP), or distributed generation projects.
- Gas power generation or natural gas compression facilities.
- Industrial facility commissioning and startup.
- Project development activities for energy or industrial infrastructure projects.
- EPC, design-build, or major equipment procurement contracts.
