Introduction:
Started in 2010, Northumberland Properties, a division of Ocean Breeze Estates Limited, is a locally owned real estate development firm that builds and manages apartments in Amherst and Yarmouth, NS. We are an established team that manages over 230 apartments and are looking to continue our growth.
The Property and Groundskeeper will work out of our Amherst office and will be responsible for basic maintenance repairs for tenants, maintaining lawns throughout out mowing season, and clearing snow during Fall and Winter. The ultimate goal for this person is to help build long-term relationships with our tenants.

Responsibilities:
- Complete standard apartment maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing and electrical, and carpentry tasks
- Complete annual maintenance plans.
- Enter all maintenance information into appropriate software
- Assist in turning over apartments after move-outs, including painting, maintenance and cleaning.
- Operate snow removal and salting equipment to execute snow removal plan in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
- Shovel required areas including doorways, decks and patios.
- Maintain all lawncare and snow removal equipment.
- Mow all lawns and ditches.
- Trim grass around buildings and driveways and remove clippings from driveways, patios and other tenant areas.
- Clean up grounds, incl. garbage bins, compost bins, yard.
- Assist with landscaping improvements and maintenance, incl. leaf raking, weeding, seeding and maintaining lawns.
- Assist tenants in removing garbage, compost and recyclables on weekly basis.
- Complete regular equipment and property inspections.
- Be available on required evenings and weekend for emergency and on-call support.
- Contribute to the development of new processes and plans, and the regular updates of the current plans to ensure we meet our financial and growth targets.

Educational Qualifications/Degree
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Professional Experience
- N/A
Functional and Language Skills
- Ability to operate push and ride-on lawn mowers and whipper snippers safely
- Ability to operate snow removal equipment safely
- Ability to drive snow removal equipment
- Painting skills
- Basic plumbing maintenance skills
- Basic appliance repairs skills an asset
- Basic carpentry skills
- Building maintenance skills
- Ability to work independently
- Written and verbal English
- French an asset
