Job Profile
Under the general supervision of the HVAC Foreman, the Refrigeration Mechanic installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs Refrigeration and Cooling equipment by analyzing problems, dismantling, adjusting, replacing and/or repairing components as required in facilities under the Division's jurisdiction in accordance with standard trades practices, certification applicable codes and manufacturers specifications.
As The Refrigeration Mechanic, You Will
- Maintain and repair HVAC Systems.
- Coordinate Contractors.
- Coordinate annual Regulatory Inspections.
- Perform duties related to safety, working relationships, training, license's, tools and other duties as required.
Your Education And Qualifications Include
- Must possess a Red Seal Journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Certificate recognized by the Province of Manitoba.
- Must possess and maintain a WFPS Service Person License.
- Must possess a Red Seal Gas Fitter.
- Must possess a MOPIA Certification.
- Must have two (2) years' experience with Commercial and Industrial Refrigeration and Cooling System Installations.
- Knowledge of the regulations applicable to the area of work in addition to related occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Proficiency operating a personal computer using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and word and ability to learn other software.
- Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work and maintain required records.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to instruct and supervise staff.
- Ability to coordinate and monitor work performed by contractors in the areas of installation, repair,
or maintenance of associated equipment.
- Ability to physically perform the duties of the position.

Conditions Of Employment
- The successful candidate must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful candidate possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- Must possess a Red Seal Journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning certificate recognized by the Province of Manitoba.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5F Manitoba Driver's License.The successful applicant will be required to provide a driver's notice in force document upon request.
- Successful completion and maintenance of a Winnipeg Police Service Level 2 Security Clearance satisfactory to the employer will be required from the applicant(s) or successful candidate(s).This position may require a Level 3 security clearance from the Winnipeg Police Service.
- Must Possess a MOPIA Certificate.
- Must possess a St. John's Ambulance Emergency First Aid Certificate or equivalent or willingness and ability to obtain it within three (3) months of commencing in the position.
