Registered Nurse (Casual Part-Time) – Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & IV Sedation

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly professional Registered Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team on a casual, part-time basis. In this role, you will work alongside our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons to assist with IV sedation procedures. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional, whole-patient care, upholding the highest safety protocols, and ensuring seamless clinical operations.

This position requires strong airway management skills, precise attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining an environment of trust and comfort.

Schedule

- Mondays: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Casual part time and on-call for Mondays)

Key Responsibilities

- Pre-Appointment & Assessment:



Retrieve patient charts, seat patients, and perform thorough pre-operative patient assessments, including taking comprehensive medical histories and baseline vital signs.
- Surgical & Sedation Support: Set up and clean up surgical operatories, including advanced sedation equipment. Prepare medications as prescribed and perform accurate drug counts at the close of the day.
- Intra-Operative Monitoring: Perform dedicated patient care tasks, closely monitoring vital signs and actively assessing and maintaining patient airways throughout the entire surgical procedure.
- Post-Operative Care & Discharge: Provide diligent post-operative patient assessments, deliver clear and compassionate post-op instructions to patients and families, and evaluate clinical discharge criteria.
- Clinical Documentation: Complete accurate, real-time charting, imaging, and medical documentation to uphold our high standards of clinical excellence and trust.
- Specialty Assistance: Provide tailored assistance for specialty dentistry and oral surgery as required, ensuring a comfortable, reassuring experience for patients of all ages, including younger patients.

Qualifications and Requirements





- Valid registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing.
- Current certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) are strictly required.
- Previous experience in a dental office or oral surgery environment is highly preferred, though we are willing to train a candidate with a strong background in acute patient care or sedation.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to explain complex clinical steps in plain, reassuring language to patients.
- A highly collaborative mindset, with the ability to work seamlessly alongside clinicians, specialists, and front-desk staff as one cohesive team.
- Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and absolute adherence to strict infection prevention and control protocols.
