As a member of the health care team, the Registered Nurse provides assessment, evaluation and implementation of care plans to acutely ill patient population according to the and standards of practice for a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit.

1.

Current

Certificate of Registration with the College of Nursing of Ontario as a Registered Nurse

2.

Current Basic Cardiac Life

Support certification (B.C.L.S.)

- Demonstrated current knowledge of physical assessment and clinical decision making
- Demonstrated current knowledge and experience caring for critically ill or injured patients
- Current experience in pressure monitoring, airway management and mechanical ventilators
- Demonstrated current knowledge of cardiac and respiratory arrest procedures
- Proficient in insertion of intravenous lines




- Must be able to start IVs and be certified in defibrillation and maintain certification
- Demonstrated proficiency in working with patients, families, peers and multidisciplinary healthcare teams in an effective, qualified, caring manner
- Demonstrated excellent problem-solving and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated leadership ability and organizational skills, ongoing professional development
- Ability to perform well in high stress situations
- Successful completion of recognized intensive care related courses

Critical Care

Certificate and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (A.C.L.S.) preferred
