CCC-6 is an exciting inpatient service within the Clinical Care (CCC) program at CAMH, and is seeking a part-time (0.45FTE), permanent Registered Practical Nurse to join the team. CCC-6 is a 25 bed unit (20 general bed+ 5 bed PICU), that provides support to clients who are 18+ experiencing the acute phase of a mental and/or addictions disorder. As a member of the inter-qualified team, you will provide holistic client-centred psychiatric nursing care. facilitate group programming on the unit; provide mentorship and supervision to students and participate in the research activities for the program.
Successful candidates are well supported by unit leadership team, the Advance Practice Clinical Leader and Manager, during their orientation. Unit orientation focuses on developing and refining the knowledge and skills needed to work safely and effectively on an acute general psychiatric unit. Staff are expected to practice safely and in accordance to the Practice Standards outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and Canadian Standards of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (CFMHN).
This position requires 12-hour day, evening, night and weekend rotations. This position is located at 1051 Queen Street Site. Demonstrate competency in monitoring, assessment and documentation for: Mental health and substance-related disorders Mental status and physical health assessments Client response to pharmaceutical interventions Demonstrate motivation to develop knowledge and skills of trauma-informed care, culturally competent care, crisis intervention,
mental health and addiction diagnoses and treatment modalities Be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario Preference will be given to candidates who possess, or are pursuing a CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing Psychiatric nursing experience with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions is an asset Computer literacy is required Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
