Role Description The Security Guard will monitor and patrol designated areas, conduct regular security checks, and respond to alarms or incidents to maintain a safe environment for clients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities include controlling access to premises, verifying identification, documenting incidents, and preparing clear reports. The role involves working closely with clients and colleagues, providing courteous assistance, and de-escalating situations when necessary.
The Security
Guard will follow established policies and procedures, comply with applicable regulations, and support investigations or security assessments as directed.
Qualifications
Candidates for Security Guard positions with Securus Investigation Services should meet the following qualifications:
- Valid Security Guard Licence: Must hold a valid provincial security guard licence and be in good standing.
- AST Certification: Must possess current AST (Advanced Security Training) certification.
- First Aid/CPR Certification: Must hold current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Crisis Intervention Training: Must possess current certification in Crisis Intervention, such as MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) or an equivalent recognized program.
- Professional Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to interact professionally, respectfully, and effectively with clients, visitors, employees, and members of the public.
- Physical Security Skills: Knowledge and ability to perform duties such as site patrols, access control, security checks, loss prevention, and incident response.
- Personnel & Private Security Practices: Understanding of confidentiality, professional ethics, privacy, appropriate use of authority, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Situational Awareness & Judgment: Ability to remain alert and observant, assess situations effectively, remain calm under pressure, and exercise sound judgment during routine and emergency situations.
- Communication & Reporting: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to accurately document incidents, prepare occurrence reports, and communicate relevant information to supervisors and clients.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, patrol, and remain attentive for extended periods, as well as perform the basic physical duties associated with security work.
- Reliability & Professionalism: Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, integrity, discretion, and a qualified appearance and demeanor.
- Previous Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military service, emergency services, customer service, or a related field is considered an asset.
