The ALC Acute Care Practice Lead provides key leadership within the Operational Oversight and Coordination team, and reports directly to the Program Director for Capacity, Demand Planning, and Utilization. This role is responsible for providing action-orientated problem-solving and expert consultation in the assessment, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of ALC-related processes and initiatives. The role supports the advancement of effective patient flow strategies by partnering with medical, operational, and system leaders to identify opportunities, address barriers, and implements evidence-informed solutions that promote safe, timely, and efficient transitions across the continuum of care. There are 3 positions available.

Description:

The ALC Acute Care Practice Lead provides a senior professional role and consultation to internal and external stakeholders, including medical leaders, operational leaders, and multidisciplinary partners, to support the design and optimization of ALC management strategies. The role leads knowledge translation activities with the Operational Oversight and Coordination team to enhance understanding, alignment, and adoption of best practices, policies, and operational improvements. Through strong leadership, collaboration, and change management expertise, the ALC Acute Care Practice Lead develops and implements processes, tools, and frameworks that improve patient flow, enhance system performance, and support the delivery of high-quality patient-centred care. These roles work closely with Assisted Living Alberta, Recovery Alberta, Digital Health,



and Health Service Providers. Consultant position are corridor-based, assignment of which will depend on any fluctuations in volumes. Corridor divisions are: Edmonton (including COV), Calgary/SE/SW, Central/NE/NW.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in health administration, nursing, social work, or a related field. Registration and membership in good standing with a health professions college (CRA or ACSW preferred) Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in health administration, nursing, social work, or a related discipline. Relevant professional designation or certification in healthcare leadership, quality improvement, or project management.

Preferred Qualifications: Significant experience in healthcare operations, patient flow, capacity management, or system coordination within a complex healthcare setting. Advanced knowledge of hospital ALC operations, capacity management, patient flow methodologies, and system coordination.
