Mission Services is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and growth-oriented finance professional to join our leadership team as Senior Director of Finance. This role offers a unique opportunity for an accomplished finance manager, controller, or senior financial professional to transition into a senior organizational leadership position with direct exposure to organizational strategy, Board reporting, stakeholder engagement, and enterprise-wide decision-making. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Finance provides strategic leadership and oversight of all financial operations of Mission Services, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, payroll, financial reporting, cash flow management, compliance, and risk management.

The Senior

Director of Finance serves as the organization's primary financial advisor, partnering with senior leadership, funders, auditors, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure strong financial stewardship, sustainability, and accountability in support of the organization's mission. This role is ideal for an individual who has demonstrated success leading people, managing complex financial operations, and influencing organizational decision-making, and who is ready to expand their leadership impact within a highly respected and mission-driven organization.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Mission Services of Hamilton Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team. Influence strategic organizational decisions and long‑term sustainability planning. Lead and mentor a dedicated finance team while supporting the development of future leaders.

Use your financial expertise to support meaningful work that positively impacts individuals and families in our community Finance Advise the Executive Director of any financial, legal, infrastructure, or business continuity risks. Oversee cash, investments, asset management, cash flow planning, and ensure availability of funds as needed. Manage financial strategies and represent Mission Services to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, foundation executives, auditors, public officials, and other stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with all funding agreements and reporting requirements associated with multiple municipal, provincial,



and federal funding sources. Consult and collaborate with the Executive Director and Senior Management Team in the development and monitoring of budgets. Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term sustainability strategies while monitoring organizational performance and recommending corrective actions as needed.

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership by providing financial analysis, recommendations, and insights that support strategic decision-making. Oversee audits, risk management, and internal controls to ensure compliance, accountability, and protection of organizational assets. Be knowledgeable about non‑profit and charitable best practices and provincial and federal legislation regarding non‑profit operations.

Comply with Mission Services established practices, procedures, policies, and Code of Conduct and consistently represent the organization and its services in a positive manner. Accounting and Administration Oversee accounting operations, internal controls, and financial reporting. Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements for senior leadership, the Board of Directors, and funders.

Participate in Finance and Audit committee meetings, including but not limited to preparing agendas, attending meetings, and preparing and presenting financial reports. Coordinate audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance activities. Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to financial systems, processes, and reporting practices.

Supervise, mentor, and support members of the Finance team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and career development.

Payroll Administration

Provide strategic oversight of payroll operations, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, organizational policies, and reporting requirements. Oversee payroll reconciliations, year‑end reporting, CRA remittances, pension contributions, benefits administration, and statutory deductions.



Ensure payroll controls and processes are accurate, secure, and audit‑ready.

We welcome applications from experienced finance professionals who have demonstrated strong leadership capability and are seeking an opportunity to advance into a senior leadership role. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required. Seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, and financial management preferred.

Experience supporting organizational planning, financial reporting, compliance, and decision‑making processes.

Experience with Sage Intacct financial management software is required. Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with senior leaders, Board members, auditors, financial institutions, funders, and other stakeholders. Knowledge of compliance and reporting requirements in the not‑for‑profit sector would be considered an asset.

Experience within the charitable, social services, healthcare, public sector, or broader not‑for‑profit environment would be considered an asset. Candidates who are currently serving in Finance Manager, Accounting Manager, Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or other financial leadership roles and are looking to take the next step in their leadership career are encouraged to apply.
