Overview

OilCo is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join its Finance and Commercial team. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that supports Newfoundland and Labrador’s offshore energy interests and future energy opportunities.

Reporting to the Director, Finance & Commercial, you will play an important role in delivering accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial support for OilCo’s operations. Your work will help support sound decision-making across joint venture activities, revenue accounting, business planning, and strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring solid financial judgment, attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset to help ensure financial information is accurate, reliable, and useful for decision-making.

Duties

- Support accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities that help guide OilCo’s operations and strategic priorities.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial information, reconciliations, and management reports to provide clear insights and recommendations.
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Provide financial analysis and advice to support operational, commercial, and strategic decision-making.
- Support audit activities and help ensure compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies,



and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial processes, internal controls, reporting quality, and overall efficiency.
- Build effective working relationships with internal teams, external partners, auditors, and other stakeholders.

Experience The ideal candidate is a strong finance professional who brings sound accounting knowledge, analytical thinking, and a collaborative approach to their work.

You will bring

- An undergraduate degree in business, commerce, accounting, or a related field.
- A professional accounting designation (or currently enrolled in a program).
- Three to five years of relevant accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis experience.
- Experience preparing financial statements and working with IFRS reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and provide accurate, useful financial information.
- Experience in oil and gas, joint venture accounting, revenue accounting, or public sector organizations is an asset.

Pay: $79,242.80-$93,475.20 per year
