Pro Social Partners are proud to be working in partnership with Medway Council to recruit a Senior Practitioner to join their Children Social Work Team.
Medway combines a competitive core salary with a market supplement and annual retention payment that together take the overall package to almost £62,000, within a service that has invested seriously in workforce stability and practice support. This is a senior practice role rather than a management one, so it suits an experienced social worker who wants to keep hold of complex casework while shaping how the team practises.
The Role
- Hold a smaller caseload of the most complex children in need and child protection matters.
- Complete high-quality, strengths-based assessments that clearly analyse risk, need, and protective factors.
- Provide practice leadership, mentoring, and quality assurance for less experienced colleagues.
- Support the Team Manager with case oversight, decision making, and reflective supervision.
- Prepare clear, analytical reports for conferences, reviews, and court where required.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to reduce risk and promote family resilience.
About You
- A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
- Substantial post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care, ideally in safeguarding or child protection.
- A track record of holding complex work and of supporting the practice of others.
- Solid assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- A clear commitment to relationship-based and strengths-led practice.
Why Medway Council?
- A total package worth almost £62,000 once supplement and retention are included.
- A senior role that keeps you close to practice rather than pulling you into management.
- Serious ongoing investment in workforce stability and practice support.
- Supportive leadership and a strong culture of reflective supervision.
- Hybrid working arrangements and a genuine commitment to work-life balance.
