Senior Service Associate
CI Assante Wealth Management Ltd. | Unified Advisory Group
Location: Cambridge, Ontario
Work arrangement: Hybrid
Compensation: Approximately $60,000–$80,000 base salary, plus discretionary bonus, benefits, RRSP matching, and educational support The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Service Associate who wants to become a rockstar on the technical side of wealth management.
This is not a traditional administrative service role. You will work directly with Senior Wealth Advisors to analyze client situations, build and update financial plans, investigate planning opportunities, prepare proposed solutions, support client meetings and help turn advice into action.
Our clients include affluent and high-net-worth families. The work can span retirement, taxation, corporate planning, estate planning, insurance, investments and cash-flow decisions.
We are looking for someone who already understands the fundamentals of wealth management and is ready for substantially more responsibility.
The core expectation is simple:
Investigate, think and propose.
You should be able to take a client situation, determine what information is missing, work through the issue, develop a thoughtful, proposed solution and bring it to the advisor for review rather than waiting to be told every next step.
For someone who wants to continue developing into an advisor, this role provides a clear path toward more independent client responsibilities as an Associate Advisor.
What you'll do
Build and analyze financial plans
You will help turn client information into useful financial-planning analysis. That includes building and updating plans, modelling scenarios, identifying missing information, investigating planning questions and preparing analysis that allows advisors to make better decisions.
You will be expected to understand the work rather than simply input data.
Over time, you should be able to look at a client's circumstances and recognize where further investigation or planning may be required.
Develop proposed solutions
When an issue arises, your job will increasingly be to investigate the problem and return with a well-developed proposed solution.
You may assist with retirement-income strategies, cash-flow decisions, corporate and personal planning considerations, insurance needs, estate-planning issues and other areas relevant to the families we serve.
Senior Wealth Advisors remain responsible for reviewing and approving material recommendations, but you should progressively require less direction in developing the analysis behind them.
Prepare for and support client meetings
You will help ensure advisors enter meetings thoroughly prepared.
This can include reviewing client information, updating planning work, identifying outstanding issues, preparing meeting materials and determining what requires discussion.
You will participate in selected client meetings, primarily as a second chair or technical resource, with opportunities to assume greater meeting responsibility as your capability develops.
Work directly with clients
This is a client-connected role.
You will communicate directly with clients to gather information, clarify circumstances, answer questions within your area of responsibility and coordinate follow-up.
You will not initially own client relationships, but clients should come to recognize you as a knowledgeable and dependable member of their advisory team.
Coordinate implementation and complex service work
You will handle account opening and more complex processing-related work that requires greater knowledge and judgment.
You may also discuss investments with clients and help facilitate straightforward transactions within an established investment strategy.
What success looks like
Within your first several months, you understand our systems, planning process, documentation standards, client-service expectations and how work moves across the team.
Within your first year, Senior Wealth Advisors can confidently hand you a planning file knowing that you will identify missing information, build accurate planning scenarios, investigate the important questions, develop thoughtful solutions and prepare the file for discussion with limited oversight.
You are not simply completing assigned tasks. You are anticipating what needs to happen next.
Longer term, you become a trusted technical resource within the practice and are ready to progress toward the Associate Advisor role.
Who will thrive here
You will likely enjoy this role if you are naturally curious and like solving problems.
You care about getting the details right, but you also want to understand why the work matters.
You are comfortable saying, “Here is what I found, here are the options I considered, and here is what I think we should do.”
You communicate clearly, collaborate well and do not treat knowledge as something to protect. You want to learn from more experienced advisors and, as you develop, help teach others.
Qualifications
You will need
- approximately 2–5 years of relevant experience in wealth management, financial planning or a related advisory environment; experience is a guideline rather than an absolute requirement
- at least one of an appropriate investment licence/registration or life insurance licence
- willingness to complete whichever licensing stream you do not yet hold after joining
- willingness to work toward QAFP or CFP certification
- post-secondary education appropriate to support CFP eligibility where required
- strong analytical, organizational and written communication skills
- a high degree of accuracy and professional judgement
Experience with sophisticated financial-planning cases, incorporated business owners or high-net-worth families would be an asset, but we are willing to develop someone with strong fundamentals and high potential.
Our team uses Conquest, Snap Projections, Salesforce, Microsoft 365, CapIntel, automation and AI-supported workflows. You do not need to arrive knowing every system, but you should be comfortable learning new technology and interested in making processes better.
Compensation and benefits The expected base salary range is approximately $60,000–$80,000, depending on experience, credentials and demonstrated capability, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
Our benefits include
- comprehensive health and dental coverage, with the firm contributing up to $1,000 per year toward premiums
- RRSP matching
- paid licensing costs
- paid QAFP/CFP-related costs
- professional development and ongoing learning opportunities
- hybrid work
Location and hybrid work Our primary office is in Cambridge, Ontario.
Team members who live within a reasonable commuting distance of Cambridge are generally expected to work from the office approximately three days per week.
