At Phoenix the Skilled Labourer is also proficient at safe, efficient operation of a diverse range of construction equipment, and other pieces of equipment including dump truck.

Accountability includes:

- Maintain proper awareness of one’s surroundings.

- May mentor, train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment.

- Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program

- Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections. Ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Phoenix Safety Program.

- Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards

- Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities

- Assist tradespersons such as welders, pipefitters etc. in construction activities

- Operate construction-related equipment (e.g., driving trucks or forklifts etc.

- Operate large, powered machinery and equipment (e.g., saws, drills, grinders, blowtorches, pressure cleaners, jackhammers).

- Erect temporary structures and scaffolding

- Place traffic signs to warn traffic of construction in process

- Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately





- Align structural components according to blueprints

- Ensure that all work is being done safely and in compliance with company protocol

- Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants and remove other hazardous materials

- Attend site meetings /toolbox huddles

- Promote a team approach with all employees and sub-contractors

Requirements:

- 3 + years operating a diverse range of equipment operation an asset.

- Knowledge of construction materials and processes.

- Familiar with safe work practices and procedures

- Positive communication skills at all levels

- First aid experience would be an asset

- O.S.T and C.S.T.S Training would be an asset

Qualifications:

- High School Diploma preferred

- Class 3E Drivers License or class 1 preferred

- Experience within the construction industry, downstream petroleum industry preferred
